Iranfact.org is a collaborative effort led by the National Iranian American Council and Just Foreign Policy to ensure that politicians and the media do not repeat the same mistakes that were made in the run-up to the Iraq war by exposing false claims that are made by politicians and perpetuated by the media.
In the lead up to the U.S. invasion of Iraq, the media helped perpetuate misleading statements and allowed a false narrative to take hold that paved the path for war. We now see a similar narrative being constructed and enabled through inaccurate reporting regarding Iran, particularly on its nuclear program. Just as a majority of Americans were led falsely to believe that Iraq was responsible for the September 11th attacks and that Saddam Hussein possessed nuclear weapons, we now see polls indicating that a majority of Americans falsely believe Iran has nuclear weapons or that Iran is building nuclear weapons.
To prevent history from repeating, Iranfact.org is devoted to advancing the truth and holding officials and the media accountable when they mislead the public.
